This competency examination for the Master Citizen Planner credentialing program can be taken after the completion of the seven Citizen Planner Core Modules (classroom or online). In order to become a Master Citizen Planner, this exam must be completed along with a capstone project. You will have 60 days from the last core session to successfully complete the competency examination with a score of 70% or higher. The exam consists of 40 questions and should take about an hour to complete (you have two hours to complete the exam).

This unit introduces you to the issue of farmland protection. It describes how farmland is defined and why farmland is valued. It also reviews several threats that could cause land uses to be converted from agricultural to other types of uses. This unit does not cover farmland protection activities that are ongoing in Michigan, nor does it review tools and techniques for farmland protection. Future units in this module will provide that information.
