The very nature of MRI calls for generous emphasis on cross-sectional anatomy. The MRI program at MSU developed around this theme. Over the course of the past twenty years, instructors for this program developed the MRI Cross-Sectional Anatomy Technologist Educational Program which proves to be effective in teaching MRI students the information they need to know in order to earn Advanced-Level Qualifications in MRI through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). In response to overwhelming requests from various sites for access to this information, the MRI Cross-Sectional Anatomy Technologist Educational Program was formally organized and made available for use in other MRI Technologist training programs.

The MRI Cross-Sectional Anatomy Technologist Educational Program includes two instructor manuals and six student workbooks containing over 300 pages each plus a CD-based PowerPoint presentation designed for use on a Windows-based system. The program is interactive in design allowing students to follow along in their workbooks as the instructor presents information from the PowerPoint. Student workbooks include fill-in blanks for key words from the PowerPoint presentation. To correlate, the instructor’s manual highlights these words in bolded print allowing the instructor to emphasize the information students need to insert in the blanks of their workbooks.

This educational program includes MRI images in sagittal, coronal and axial planes that identify anatomy throughout the human body. In addition, several sections of the program also include basic physiology and function of select structures.  The program is divided into several sections based on different body parts with appropriate headers at the beginning of each section. This format enables the instructor to cover as much or as little information as appropriate in each teaching session depending on the abilities and knowledge base of the students. The program includes both running lists of anatomy (i.e.. lists from 1-10) and narratives in paragraph form.

This DVD presents The Osteopathic Musculoskeletal Examination (OME) of the Acutely-Ill Hospitalized Patient along with why, when and how to apply Soft Tissue (ST) and Lymphatic Drainage (LD) Techniques in the treatment of a hospitalized patient.  The DVD includes a lecture presentation of the topic that includes slides, notes, and demonstration videos of the OME as well as the soft tissue and lymphatic drainage procedures.  Where helpful, views of procedures performed on a skeletal model are also included.  Forms that can be printed include pre-and post-self assessment of learner’s competence in the OME, soft tissue, and lymphatic drainage; critical action competency-based checklists for OME, ST, and LD which can be completed by workshop faculty after observing their successful completion by participants; and workshop evaluation.  The AOA glossary, rationale for the workshops, as well as helpful suggestions on how to conduct these workshops are also included.
