Gain an understanding for how fungi affect all aspects of our lives from production of beer and bread to forest health and our own health. You will learn how they make us sick (mycoses), cure us (antibiotics), relax us (beer production), feed us (mushrooms and bread yeast) and keep our forests healthy (mycorrhizae). This course is designed for the serious mycophile with some biology background.
The course is designed to provide basic understanding of fungal diversity and current topics in fungal research for those that already have a background in general biology (one course at the university level). The course will be useful for agricultural and heath care workers who encounter fungal diseases and wish to have a basic, general knowledge of these fungi.
