| MSU’s School of Labor and Industrial Relations offers eight Employment Law Online courses that combine to provide participants with the Certified Employer Rights and Responsibilities (CERPP) credential. The series of Employment Law Online courses offers the same information and certification as the face-to-face seminar. Introduction The Employment Law Online series is designed to help managers, supervisors and human resources professionals understand the employment laws that are applied at every stage of human resource management, from recruitment to termination of the employment relationship and beyond. In each course, you will learn from actual court cases and decisions, gain knowledge of key concepts and engage in practice applications through short learning activities. In addition, you will gain familiarity with valuable resources you will refer to again and again.

Program Goals
Each Employment Law Online course covers a topic that is part of the larger picture of human resources. These courses will enable you to do the following things in each area:
- understand legal requirements
- train supervisors and managers to meet those requirements
- revise policies and procedures to comply with the legal requirements that apply
Who are these courses for? These courses are designed for human resources professionals, upper level managers, and others who handle human relations issues in the workplace on a regular basis. The courses are also appropriate for attorneys who advise professionals in the area of human resources management.
Instructors Stacy Hickox is an assistant professor in the School of Labor and Industrial Relations at Michigan State University (MSU). As an attorney, she practiced in the areas of employment and labor law, including claims of discrimination, unemployment compensation, and wage and hour claims.
Before joining MSU, she practiced in the area of disability law at Michigan Protection and Advocacy Service. Ms. Hickox also taught for several years at MSU's law school, including courses in employment law, disability law, and civil rights.
She has written a book on the Americans with Disabilities Act and several law review articles on various employment law topics. Ms. Hickox attended the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University and received her law degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Tina Riley is an Assistant Professor in the School of Labor and Industrial Relations at Michigan State University. She has served as Director of the Human Resources Education and Training Center (HRETC), Associate Director for Outreach, and Director of Admissions and External Relations at MSU.
Dr. Riley has taught hundreds of human resource professionals, operations managers, business owners, and front-line supervisors in a variety of practitioner workshops. These workshops have focused on employment law, communication skills, and supervisory skills, just to name a few. In addition, she is a CAPT-qualified administrator of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Her primary program, The Certified Human Resources Specialist, provides professionals with a solid foundation in human resources management.
Dr. Riley earned a PhD in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education with a concentration in communications and a Master of Labor Relations and Human Resources degree, both from Michigan State University.
Continuing Education Credits
These courses have been pre-approved for continuing education credits towards recertification for the Certified Human Resources Specialist and the Certified Workers' Compensation Professional offered through the School of Labor and Industrial Relations at Michigan State University.
